Consign With Us
Specialists in Chinese Antiques and Fine Asian Art
Prince Castle Consignment offers tailored solutions for individuals, collectors, estates, and businesses wishing to sell Chinese antiques and related cultural items through auction. Whether you’re managing a private collection, settling an estate, or liquidating inventory, our team provides expert guidance and full-service support throughout the entire process.
Below is an overview of how our auction consignment process works and why it may be the most effective option for maximizing value.
When Is Auction the Right Choice?
Auction is ideal for:
Estate settlements with valuable Asian art and antiques
Private collections ready for sale or reallocation
Institutions or dealers with surplus inventory
Downsizing, relocation, or business liquidation
Selling rare and desirable objects that attract competitive bidding
Auctions provide maximum exposure, market-driven pricing, and a defined sale timeline — often with faster results and fewer unsold items than traditional sales channels.
The Auction Process
Selling through Prince Castle typically involves the following steps:
1. Initial Contact and Evaluation
Email us at contact@princecastleconsignment.com to begin. We’ll schedule a no-obligation review of your items based on photographs, descriptions, and any documentation you provide. Our specialists assess the authenticity, market value, and suitability for auction.
2. Decision to Sell
After evaluation, we’ll advise you on estimated value ranges and discuss the best strategy based on your goals — whether through a timed online auction, catalog event, or direct sale.
3. Auction Agreement
If you choose to move forward, we’ll provide a formal auction consignment contract outlining commission rates, handling details, payment terms, and listing expectations. Our standard seller’s commission ranges from 30% to 40%, depending on the item category and scope of services.
4. Delivery of Property
Once consignment is confirmed, you may ship the items to us or coordinate drop-off by appointment. In select cases, we can arrange transportation for larger collections.
5. Cataloging and Promotion
Your items are professionally photographed, cataloged, and listed with complete historical context and provenance when available. We market your pieces to a global audience of collectors and institutions through our platform and targeted outreach.
6. Auction Day
Buyers place bids online in real time. We handle all aspects of the bidding process and maintain clear communication with registered buyers to ensure a smooth experience and competitive environment.
7. Payment and Settlement
After the auction closes and payment is confirmed, you will receive a detailed settlement report along with your share of the proceeds. Payouts are typically issued within 30 days of delivery confirmation or cleared funds. The buyer’s premium, added on top of the hammer price, is paid by the buyer and does not reduce your commission percentage.
