This 18th Century cherrywood chest of drawers from Austria, dating around 1790, represents the Josephinism period’s refined design. The chest features a beautifully mirrormatched cherrywood veneer enhanced with inlaid ebonized plumwood and maple frames, adding a distinct decorative touch. It contains three spacious drawers, each retaining original and functioning locks, complemented by elegant brass fittings. The piece underwent restoration approximately 15 years ago, preserving its excellent condition and making it ready for use. This antique commode showcases the craftsmanship and style characteristic of late 18th Century Austrian furniture, combining practical storage with artistic veneer work. Its blend of cherrywood and fruitwood veneers emphasizes the period's focus on both aesthetics and utility.
