This 18th Century halfcabinet, known as a Trumeau commode, originates from Austria circa 1780. The halfcabinet features a distinct design showcasing herringbone veneer work crafted from cherrywood, along with inlaid nutwood and ebonized fruitwood stripes. The cherrywood halfcabinet offers two doors and a drawer accessible only when the doors are opened, with all surfaces preserved by a traditional hand-polished shellac finish that enhances its intricate patterns. This piece includes original brass fittings that add to its authentic appearance. Reflecting the Josephinism period in Austria, this halfcabinet stands out as an extraordinary antique in excellent restored condition, embodying the craftsmanship and elegance of the late 18th Century.
