19TH CENTURY, AUSTRIA, EMPIRE WRITING DESK, NUTWOOD, ROLL TOP

regular price $14,900.00
Subtotal: $14,900.00

The Empire writing desk from 19th century Austria is a finely crafted piece made around 1800, showcasing the nutwood roll top design popular in that era. Featuring six side drawers and a lockable center drawer with secure bolt mechanisms, this desk blends practicality with artistry. The mirrored veneer creates elaborate patterns on the roll top, complemented by branch-patterned edges, enhancing its visual appeal. Inside, the roll top reveals a red felt-lined workspace with five small drawers ideal for writing tools. Ebonized details and hand-polished shellac finish further highlight the craftsmanship of this desk. Representing the transitional style from Josephinism to the Empire era, this restored piece stands as both a decorative object and a functional office furniture item from Austria's early 19th century.
