This 19th century Austria gilt Biedermeier wall mirror exemplifies handcarved artistry typical of the period, dating from around 1850. The frame features detailed floral patterns with delicate tendrils, demonstrating remarkable craftsmanship. The mirror is distinguished by its surface combining partly bronzed and gold leaf plating, revealing layers of gold overlapping and a red 'bolus' primer typical in gilding, which enhances its unique charm. The mirror glass was renewed during restoration, ensuring functionality while preserving historical character. Mounted on softwood, it includes a ring on the back for easy wall hanging, reflecting practical design. This gilt Biedermeier wall mirror represents both artistic and functional qualities of its era.
