19TH CENTURY, AUSTRIA, NUTWOOD BIEDERMEIER CHEST OF DRAWERS

regular price $8,300.00
Subtotal: $8,300.00

This 19th century Biedermeier chest of drawers from Austria is crafted with finely veneered nutwood, restored to a pristine condition around 1840. The primary keyword nutwood stands out in this piece, featuring four spacious lockable drawers that provide ample storage. The nutwood veneer is skillfully applied to create a continuous grain pattern from top to bottom, while the pilaster strips show a complementary horizontal veneer. Elegant brass key blades shaped like shields enhance the drawer aesthetics, and a hand-polished shellac finish adds a subtle gloss. This chest exemplifies the refined, functional design characteristic of the Austrian Biedermeier period, making it a valuable storage unit with artistic appeal.
