The 19th century nutwood commode, known as a Biedermeier trumeau or half cabinet, originates from Austria around 1830. This piece features a beautifully veneered nutwood surface arranged in a mirror-matched pattern that highlights the natural grain of the wood. Designed during the Biedermeier period, it includes a drawer with original brass fittings above two wide-opening doors. Behind these doors is a spacious, divided compartment secured by authentic original locks. This finely crafted commode was hand-polished with shellac to enhance and protect the nutwood veneer, reflecting the traditional finishes used in early 19th century Vienna. Its restored condition and functional storage design make it a remarkable example of Biedermeier furniture.
